Thursday Night Zen Practice at Buddhamouse, 4/23/15

Ven. Wonji Dharma, Ven. Sunyananda Dharma, and Br. Jungmin Prajna were our guests. Rev. Jabo (now known as Ven. Myodo) led chanting of the Heart Sutra, and Ven. Sunyananda led Kwan Seum Bosal mantra chanting. Then we meditated and Ven. Sunyananda taught proper seated meditation posture. Ven. Wonji answered questions.

Wednesday Night Discover Zen at Open Door Yoga, 4/22/15

Ven. Wonji Dharma, Ven. Sunyananda Dharma, and Br. Jungmin Prajna were our guests. Ven. Wonji led a deep, guided meditation. Then Rev. Jabo (now known as Ven. Myodo) led chanting practice, and Ven. Wonji answered questions from the sangha. 

Monday Night Zen Practice at Buddhamouse, 4/20/15

This week, Ven. Wonji Dharma, Ven. Sunyananda Dharma, and Br. Jungmin Prajna came to practice with us. They used to visit Southern California about twice a year.

Taegosah (Mountain Spirit Center), 4/20/15

Rev. Jabo Prajna (now known as Ven. Myodo) took a road trip to Taegosah in  Tehachapi, CA with Ven. Wonji Dharma, Ven. Sunyananda Dharma, and Br. Jungmin Prajna. It is a Korean Zen Buddhist temple run by the Jogye Order, the "ancestor" of the Five Mountain Zen Order. There are two nuns and a monk in residence there, who were happy to serve lunch to weary travelers. 

Peace Bell at Taegosah

Rev. Jabo Prajna (now known as Ven. Myodo)  and Sr. Hyeongjeon Sunim ring the Peace Bell at Taegosah. It has a much deeper and richer sound than is captured by this video. It is only rung between certain hours as a courtesy to the neighbors.

As you listen to the bell, ask yourself, Where does the sound go?

Thien Vien Chan Nguyen Buddhist Temple, 4/20/15

Rev. Jabo Prajna (now known as Ven. Myodo) took a road trip to in Thien Vien Chan Nguyen in Adelanto, CA with Ven. Wonji Dharma, Ven. Sunyananda Dharma, and Br. Jungmin Prajna. It is a Vietnamese Zen Buddhist temple.

Five Mountain Zen Order National Retreat, 4/18/15

This national retreat was hosted by Ocean Eyes Zen Center in Huntington Beach, CA. Members of Single Flower and Open Door carpooled down from Pomona. Ven. Wonji Dharma and Ven. Sunyananda Dharma led the retreat, having come all the way from Kansas City, MO, along with Br. Jungmin Prajna.

There was sitting and walking meditation, while one student at a time was invited for a koan interview conducted by Revs. Jabo Prajna (now known as Ven. Myodo) and Bonjok 
Prajna. The potluck lunch was delicious. Then Ven. Wonji gave a Dharma talk, and the retreat concluded with a circle talk.
